If you've boiled it up, you may have warped the head & it will need skimming. That's not a DIY job.

If you've got mayo in both places, it sounds like it's really shat itself.

You could try it yourself it will save you a fortune, what's your tool case like?? Can you manage a timing belt? Get the head skimmed if you can't tell if its wrapped.

The steel seal stuff has had good reviews and I believe offers a guarantee if it doesn't seal the fault.

Another one is K-seal.

They are the only 2 products I would consider using and even then only as a temporary fix.

Bad luck with that! :(

If you're looking to pay someone to do the work, with what you can buy an H22 for these days, you'd probably be better off just buying a known good used one and dropping that in? Particularly if you bought one with low miles on the cam belt - by the time you've added up all the labour for doing cambelt and head gasket (including possible skim etc) it'd work out more labour for a garage than to just swap the engine I reckon.

If that's your backup plan you may as well try that other stuff, but I'm very sceptical about it either working at all, or working and lasting/not buggering up the rest of the system (blocking the rad/heater matrix etc)

i was talking to a mechanic friend of mine the other day and when i mentioned my coolant loss he recommended k seal. said that was the only one worth using and that it has worked for him in the past.

might be worth giving it a shot, but it sounds like you will need to flush the gunk from the system first.

im thinking i might give it a try, will post back here if i do.
