Noticed a car from this company doing some work on the new Ka on the house opposite.
Hadn't heard of them before so googled to see what it was about.

One of those driving tracker things for insurance then. I wonder what useful info they can give insurers really? Location, speed, time of driving... That's about it?

I guess they could tie location/speed in with the speed limit in that area, but that doesn't tell you if they're driving sensibly. Doesn't tell you if they're cutting people up left-right-and-centre, bothering to indicate, observing traffic signals, or even if the speed they're doing is appropriate? (i.e. doing 50mph in a national speed limit road is well within the limit but might actually be completely inappropriate/unsafe?)

Telematics is becoming a bit of thing with Insurers. It monitors the way you accelerate, brake etc and some insurers charge you for exceeding the speed limit, to encourage safer driving.

The main thing though is late night/early driving. Most serious injuries and fatalities happen at this time, so Insurers are using black boxes on a pay as you go type basis, with a much higher rate for driving during these hours.

Looking at cars that have been involved in crashes, it's difficult to understand how some people walk away unscathed but others have serious injuries/are killed.

The one in this crash for example

The accommodation compartment looks basically intact.
Difficult to see how someone could have been killed, unless there was intrusion through the glass by a stabbing something, or someone was ejected from it because they weren't wearing a seatbelt?
