vtec problems

Post by Andy_urky » Fri May 31, 2013 5:10 pm

got a problem with my vtec on cross over i lose power, after the cross over its fine. i was told it may be a valve in the intake that has become a bit sticky with age (i put a mates vtec solenoid onto it and it still happened so i know its not that). is this something i will be able to clean out if i take it off? and is it easy to get too and do?

Do you still have the intake resonator fitted?
Not sure at what point that opens, but that would fit with advice you've already received. It'sa device that's designed to quieten the intake engine noise during normal driving. It's located behind the front bumper, under the battery. You access it by removing the wheel arch liner.

You could check by hand if the flap is sticking and either fix that (if it is) or remove it if you're not bothered about the extra noise. There's a guide on here somewhere that covers the removal.
