If you go to the Ring take care!

Banter goes here, and doesn't have to be Lude related

(Dunno what happened to the link I posted :? Anyway re-added now...)

Yep, sound advice - plenty of that being the cause on that vid by the looks.

I think the last crash on that vid with the 911 highlights that you can have quite a big crash at the ring and be totally on your own :? (no co-driver, no marshall/rescue trucks/medical stuff anywhere near in shot...)

Not a nice way to be about £15k+ out of pocket before you've even left the track.

Roll on the end of this month eh?

The worst of it is I know my co driver is going to want to have a go and he is a nutter  :? This will be fun...

The way I'm looking at is this.... If on holiday drive the ring as if there is an artic lorry coming the other way round every bend. Anything else is asking for trouble. Or a combine harvester, or a crash, or a massive oil slick from a caterham, or a charity ambulance or a bus full of kids.

All of these things can and have been encountered on the ring so I am lead to believe.

I think part of the problem can come from learning the track on GT4 (or similar). You can get a good approximation of speeds and braking points, but you're then liable to be caught out when bottoming out in a dip or going (very) light on a crest.

The Ring Meisters hate the point-and-squirt brigade. Tough. If in any doubt at all, use that middle pedal!

Good call on that one Sailor, that sounds plausible. As Clarkson found out with Laguna Seca and the NSX, GT4 doesn't get close to the real thing!

Actually, my lad once navigated for me on a couple of laps with only GT4 memory as his map. It worked for braking points, and his understanding of how the bends lined up was spot on! The crests would have been an issue had I not been taking it easy. My BTG target was only low tens. We were lucky with traffic and it was all very comfortable.

Pushing to lose another 30 seconds plus, together with a bit more overtaking, and it might have been different ...
