I read the first 3 books and i thought they were great! However, i am beyond the point that i read up to and last nights episode had a couple of really interesting twists.

I am a big fan of things not going all rosy for the "hero" and this series has spadefuls of that

why? I gave my mum series one and two box sets.

@ratty and nitin: I stayed away from it on purpose but am very glad I watched series one and two on bluray and caught up. It has lots of money spent in the right places to make it look and feel real. you will get drawn in by the quality if nothing else.

It also hails from literature rather than script writters so has more scope and depth.

Shame the first sparticus died but they pulled it back.
