well after being parked up for 3 months i went and picked up the pickup yesterday, she gave me a cheeky smile as i walked over to her and i felt a huge bulge in my trousers, god ive missed her, jumped in turned the key and within what must have been a half a revolution of cranking up it fired. all of a sudden the bulge in my trousers was gone :( my wallet had fallen out of my pocket and on to the floor as i had got in  but i found it again as i got out to attach the tow rope to the front to tow it to the garage :( the journey had me sitting on the edge of my seat as the 1800 non turbo escort van towed me at speeds in excess of 20 mph for the 1/2 mile journey with 2 flat tyres on the chunkies that are still on her from the winter. pumped up the tyres had a look around wondering wheretf my mudflaps have gone and parked her up for the night back at her place of birth.

jobs to do in just over a week include
convert from auto to manual
remove all the perspex windows and paint the frame and refit them
fit the centre console
re attach the carpet/firewall  to the area behind the seats after removal to gain access for harness bar measurements
paint the discs and calipers
refit my summer wheels and tyres
damn good wash and polish
and a bit of a hoover

this lot is barely enough to make it presentable and im ashamed to say its gone to the dogs
sunroof and o/s rear arch really could do with some attention but its not going to get any for a while and it gives the 5th genners something to bitch about anyway

well i'll be drokked backwards with a big wooden stick the pickup is alive and vtec ing. just put it on the ramp to whip the box out for its manual conversion and my lack of drive was down to the drivers side driveshaft popped out of the box. just rammed it back in and put a massive smile on my face as i drove it like i stole it with no vibration now either.

Driveshaft popped out? WTF? What's caused that?

:? What with every silver cloud having a grey lining an all... This does of course mean the LSD gets put off again :?

Well it all stemmed from the vtec in reverse experiment and I did look at it when the rumbling first started and found play in the diff bearings but not enough to leak oil. When I looked today which was the first time since loss of drive I had an inclination on the shafts hence my inspection but was astonished to find the shaft out so far. Popped it back in and the rumbling has gone too.
Wasted 3 months tax with being too busy to look at it and im not sure if the mot is up now aswell  nevermind least its going again and I had a big smile today.
