where are you based dobbs, i had an engine and box out for gordonlear a few months ago. plus a few cheap a8 engines for sale here too.

excuse my dumbness, but how easy is the pump change?

it's not a cheap job & the pump is £300. Sump off crank out job.

Gutted to hear this Dobbs.

I know what you mean about not carrying on sinking money into a car, but the problem is, at least you know what's good/bad on this one, whereas if you buy another car you have no idea what's good (or not) about it???

For the small amount of money it would take, is it not worth changing the pressure switch, oil and oil filter and dropping the sump to check just in case it's a failed/blocked filter or strainer???

Pressure switch is easy to get at with the front off the round btw;

That's it there with the rubber cover over the connections, underneath the filter.
