300 mile update.
Now all the funny smells and noises are dying down. The stinks are what I assume is the new rocker cover curing on the car plus all the excess sealants and greases being burnt off. When the car was first started there was a disconcerting noise coming the timing belt, lots of scraping / rattling going on (not the best description of the noise) and driving my paranoia crazy. But this noise has almost gone now, must have been the brand new timing belt pulleys.
The car drives great. The clutch (which I am still getting used to the new biting point) feels very good, and has a slightly more pronounced bite when releasing the clutch when changing gear. I assume this is from the larger contact area of the ATR clutch.
I cleaned up all my brakes at the weekend too. All was generally good apart from the usual deposits of grime in the carriers stopping the pads from moving freely. A rear caliper had seized up due to both boots splitting and drying the grease out. This had caused quite uneven wear on the pad so lucky I had a new set of rear pads.
I hope the only thing left to do is a wheel alignment which is happening this Thursday. If all goes well at the alignment the car will be going on track on Sunday when we are all at JapFest at Knockhill
