When I first got my 4th gen I had a slider pin that was practically welded in like that. A small butane blowtorch got it hot enough to eventually get it out. After sending a little time cleaning up the bits it was fine. I an still using the same carrier and slider pin to this day.

Ah thanks Jonja and those slider pins look excellent, but it's not the slider pins I need (I have new ones of those to fit) it's the casting I was looking to replace.

Thanks for the info Merlin.
No doubt you're right on that, so that's half my argument's gone then - the other half (cba given how easy I'd hope it is to replace the casting and that I've still got the bearing to sort ) is still standing firm at the moment though

Incidentally, I can't seem to find any new after-market replacement front slider pins? Anyone know where you can get them? brakesinternational don't and biggred didn't have the accessories bit of their online store working when I looked?

That was only meant as a "it is possible to save it" ;) Swapping it out for a newer part would be easier :D
