I was taught that torque beam wrenches are actually more accurate than the 'click' type torque wrenches. Personally I couldn't get on with the damn things and prefer the 'click' type though...
At work it's a bit immaterial/that bit is managed anyway because the spec is always to set them up against a calibrated torque meter each time, rather than go off the scales on the tool.
I've tried mine out a couple of times against those and despite being about 15 years old and not calibrated in that time, it was pretty good. Not very repeatable on low range but pretty accurate and repeatable further up.
All fine for DIY mechanic, anyway!
