I'll be trying another dizzy this afternoon. If it doesn't work with the new dizzy on its the fuel pump gone.

no you don't want to know if they are dry you want to know if you have a spark.

I've always done that on cars Trammy (used to carry a spare specifically for that  ), but I read on here someone saying that has a habit of damage the coil on ludes. :? Is that right/wrong?

as long as the plug has a good connection to the engine how does the coil know if it is screwed in to the plug hole or not. its just doing its job of causing a spark, inside or outside of the bore it knows no difference except we can see if its doing its job when its outside.

That was the way I saw it too...
In theory there is a lot less contact area so the resistance might be higher, but I really didn't think it would matter!

Yeah all 4 sparked mate, I just meant they where dry with no oil or anything in there wet causing it problems. I know some people have had problems with oil in there and stuff like that but mine looks fine. I'm going to try the dizzy this afternoon. Has any one on here got a spare fuel pump at all?

If you got spark its not your dizzy and if they were dry have you got fuel at the rail ?

Basics to run an engine air fuel and spark. You have air because your still breathing, you say you have spark, so do you have fuel? If you have all 3 then it should run unless somethings out of sync.
