Post by snike77 » Fri Jul 12, 2013 2:39 pm

Hi all

What kind of speakers would i need in order to replace the standard ones in my gen5?

Would any 6x9's fit at the rear, and if anyone has done it before how easy is replacing them??

Thanks

yeah 6x9 although you may not be able to fit the original covers, I had to use socket and screw driver attachment as curvature of the window don't give you much space.

6" for the front, but most people mod in 6.5" for better choice of speakers

6xfails fit as they are OEM size. Just get upgraded fronts and maybe 6xfail subwoofers from the likes of genesis.

Just get in there and be careful. The prelude comes apart really really easy if you use your eyes.

5.25'' speakers for the fronts and be ready to rip the cages to bits.

if you want bigger than that you will be liooking at some much more serious modification.

6x9 sound like pooooo they all do. make some plates and get some 6 inch in the back but only playing bass and low mids. (easy way to achieve this is snip the wires to the tweeters.

I mounted my amps to a piece of 6mm mdf and slid it inbetween the rear seat and the boot. there is a natural rail/groove on each side of the boot opening if you look. you just need to cut the boot liner a bit.

this kept them out the way so i still had the full boot space.

I used some socks to space the board from the metal so it wouldnt buzz at all.

6'' speakers are not a direct or easy fit if you have never got to grips with cars and audio before. the hammer or the cutter will have to come out at some point. Its a one way trip for the car, put it that way

 now is the washing important to their acoustic properties, or does it just address the cheese factor, I wonder...

I have infinity reference components in the front of my lude, too. Currently have rockford fosgates in the back, but I'm not keen on them so I'm gonna try out a set of infinity's there too.

Remove rear speakers. Not required.
