All valid points.
I see no need to bulk buy stuff really - T-shirts etc can be turned around quickly and cheaply on demand these days.
I don't think it's even money that is holding the club back, though yes a little kitty we can buy banners etc out is always good.
I used to belong to the MOCGB (Mustangs), Now there's an OLD car, BUT, as said the bulk of the demographic are older and have more time (and disposable income TBH) on their hands to promote events, help each other out etc. People buy and sell lots of parts because they HAVE to (well, you can build most of a Mustang with copy parts from China, but still  )
Look what happened here when a few people started buying up cars to break them? Everyone hated it, me included to an extent, - I didn't hate the guys, I hated the fact the cars were being broken up, but as time goes on that will NEED to happen to supply the rest of us.
I feel like I could and want do so much more for this club, in terms or my background, knocking up designs for this and that would be no problem at all. The problem is, like most I suspect, I just don't have the bloody time and that really annoys me.
In an ideal world I'd be at every meet, wherever it was, and use it as an excuse to book into a hotel for a day and have a breather, but I don't have the time or the funds to do that.
I do think we have the foundations of a great club though, many folks on here help each other and even send parts for nothing, that's good spirit however you look at it. :)

Like LLL, I wholeheartedly embrace any ideas to make the club better, I just think we have to cherry pick the best ways to do it.

totally agree. I am also quite firm on my personal view that making it a paid view only site will kill it better than rape with a blender.
The fact we can donate yet otherwise use the site for free is one of the most appealing factors for me. those that donate are helping toward the knowledge and positive experience of those with less knowlege or experience of the car. this is exactly how you tempt new people in. If they really do turn on to the car and the community they can stake their commitment with a donation and a colour change on their name.

Charge people and see what happens... FTOwners club is waiting...

A rapid deployment of resources is whats needed, and a well respected car related T.V. program to do a 'prelude' special.    look at the AE86 :o . Such a shame honda didn't make it RWD.

@benny: good skills. :)
6th gen Prelude please Mr Honda. RWD 2.4 turbo lude.

If i had to pay to access the tech on this site... I wouldn't come on again. Sounds like LB all over again.

no-one would miss you anyway though mart? :poke: ;)

But yep, I'm in agreement with not introducing a membership fee - I think we all (>95%ish) are!

Membership fees were definitely a bad idea with Hyper-rev and LB and caused sooo many arguments and problems. I saw the switch over from hyper rev to LB as an ideal time to knock the membership fees on the head but unfortunatley I was out voted.

I would love to have a bigger owners club with a shop etc....

As said the s2k forum is prime example of a huge, active owners club. If you go onto auto trader, eBay etc.... And search for S2000's, you will find there's a few hundred for sale at any one time. If you do the same with Preludes....there's probably less than 50 for sale at the moment, and most of them are rusty, being broken or have a chav bodykit fitted. There's probably 10 nice Preludes for sale at the moment.

We are limited on numbers, so it would be impossible to be even anywhere near as big as other clubs. I think the key is to have more stands at more shows, with more banners and all members wearing club merch.

I guess we need to decide what the aim of the club is then.. do we want to be massive and over populated? I know the 'Lude needs more recognition, but I quite like being a bit more unique than the Civic fanboys.

Ultimately it's about what you want to achieve. Profit? New members? More help/activity between existing members? Personally, I think the latter should be the priority and the rest would naturally follow, hopefully.

this is what i wanted the bigger side of thiungs cant happen now it will happen down the line as the lude gets rarer but if we dont start getting our act together now we will be knackered parts will start getting harder and harder to get if not impossible there will be no upgrades as companies drop older cars from the range.
We need to start thinking about getting stuff made like the rear arches that kind of thing that way the lude will be around a lot longer and supported better than other cars of the same era.
