I wish you'd stop talking about these things...

Realising I now (and kind of always have) fancied a BX16v, CX GTi and one of the later DS's with the nicer "Faired in" lights. (I think I'm getting over the SM, strangely). Of the more recent ones, was it the 7 or 8 that was really long and a bit rakishly elegant?

Same engine as the 405Mi16 that everyone raved about, but quicker because the car was lighter!

i also had a few of these. still have the head off one with 16 bent valves and a front bumper, hoping the super rare bumper is going to earn me a fortune 1day. and that 8 branch exhaust manifold, now thats a work of art.

I have this week off work and might go and visit them all (really should, because I haven't seen some of them for over 3 years

) and take pics... Might even try and start the diesel that's on the front drive (that'll schmoke like a muffin!)

I think the mega-Citroen idea (CX Prestige-Prestige-Prestige?) would be the only salvation for what is essentially scrap.

A decent DS is abolutely miles out of my price range whereas one that I could afford I sure as hell wouldn't want (work ). I think DS's are very beautiful, but not as interesting technically as a CX, so don't have the same attraction to me. A decap though... mmmm... I wouldn't mind one of those!

Interesting view;

I've always thought the idea (no pun intended) of starting a DS and selecting drive all with one tiny lever & no clutch pedal was years ahead of the CX and what we have now.

I do have a soft spot for CXs too, though. And the stillborn L-Serie before it, which was related closely to the Lancia Gamma. Like a giant GS.

I had two CX's that stopped as soon as it rained one was a Safari and the other was an Athena. Plenty of WD40 and off we would go again, only other essentials was a good supply of LHM or was it LMH? I forget.

All were extremely comfortable cars and once you got used to the self centring steering nice to drive.

Do you do the little trick with the suspension spheres and unscrew the nut on the top replace with a valve and get it pumped up?

Quick question I never had a BX was the Bonnet plastic or Fibeglass?
