CV BOOT HELP

Hello guys, I saw my cv boot on drivers side today and it all cut in half and split in two and I can see the grease, would the cv joint be messed up now or is there anyway of telling its still just a cv boot job, my brother drove it sed he couldn't hear any noises yet, and also could you tell me how I will have to replace is step by step I have a 4G auto 2.0, and what be worst case scenario if I was to leave it, thanks guys I need the car ready so all help will be appriciated thanks

There is a bit of grease in there but it's split in half, so I recon once it being driven it will all come out

should be able to get a cv boot from motorfactors just specify if its inner or outer cv boot that you need - best to get a blueprint or other good quality cv boot. you will need to undo the hub nut and best to remove the driveshaft and fit the new cv boot and repack it with cv grease refit it and off you go. messy job doing these cv boots :)

Thanks vanzep, could you tell me what else il need to remove and with it being auto would I need to put it in 'N' so the drive shaft can be removed, thank you I will need to sort it before the joint goes

never worked on an auto so cant really tell you much about what gear it goes in etc
there should be a section in manual for doing the cv boots - will have a look...

Yep agreed, best thing to do would be to look in the service manual to find out how to do it.

As long as the grease in the joint still looks clean (hasn't had loads of crap get in there and start grinding away) should be absolutely fine to clean it out, re-pack with grease and fit a new boot.

yeah go to the Wiki-Lude tab at the top of the page and download the 4g manual - it should all be in there ;)

Hello guys, I can't really find the manual, just want to know if this is right way to do it , remove gear oil loosen Hub bolt, remover other nuts holding hub, move Hub so its free n pull out shaft also mine is a auto so would it need to be put in to. 'N' neutral thanks also how straight forward is it or is it hard job I'm aware it's messy
