Crunch! time for a new door...

Post by Bludge » Fri Sep 27, 2013 7:22 pm

Just had my passenger door and mirror smashed up while i was parked.
I will post a picture when photobucket stops playing sillybuggers.

What is the going rate for a passenger door, and do they differ between jdm, ukdm and usdm at all?

Going to try and sort it without going through insurance, so want to come up with a price for the door that is fair.

What is it with people driving into ludes?!

Sorry to hear that bludge. Is the one on your scrapper no good?

There's no difference between a JDM and UKDM door, except the electrics (wiring loom and additional relay for the folding mirrors) all of which can be transplanted.
A USDM one would have different electrics again and a different door lock, on account of driving on the wrong side of the road.

The mirror housings are exactly the same on electric folding/non-electric folding, it's just the guts and the plug that are different and again, you can swap them over (pushki did a guide which is in the wiki).

 Think I paid £45 for my last door, complete?

ok cool, thanks wurly. im gonna give him a price which includes the mirror, door from a scrappy (silver) someone to spray it and the time and effort it will take to switch the door.
and also give him a couple of quotes for a fix and spray from some local body shop places.

No worries - nb: when I said door complete, that meant all the guts (window, electrics, lock, handle etc) but it didn't include the mirror or the door card. Mirrors tend to go for around £30-35 each I'd have said?

Yeah i only noticed the mirror at first so i told him £30. so im thinking 30 for the mirror, 40ish for the door (will phone scrappy and see what they want for one as reference) 30ish for labour and whatever i can get a quote for spraying for.
