The engines are obviously all very similar, main issue with your question is the Type S part - I do believe there can be a few issues regarding the ATTS unit, but someone with more info will be along. (Or do a search, fairly big thread about it recently).
Other than that, should be no major headaches.
For example, I have an A8 from a late 5th gen in mine, with an ATR LSD fitted to my original gearbox.

Any H22 should drop in as far as the engine mounts go, but from what I've read you can't use the Type-S engine because the block is different (think I've remembered that right???). So if you wanted an H22A8, it would have to come from a late reg ordinary Vti.

Aside from that, the only differences if you dropped a later engine in are electrical IIRC. ODB1 / ODB2 etc.

A Type S can be fitted BUT you need an ATTS delete plate and a custom plate to use other transmissions. Alot of work.

Get a H22a7 or A8 engine. Direct swap.
Injectors are the same but the a7 obviously uses a different intake manifold etc.

If u fit the atr gbox you will have to lose the speed sensitive power steering. U cant keep the prelude vss in 4th gen.
