Oil Filter relocation? Remote Filters?

Post by RattyMcClelland » Wed Oct 02, 2013 2:42 pm

This oil filter relocation has been the absolute bane of my life. I literally want to bash a 4th Gen because i hate these kits.
Its basically pissing oil all over my drive. My nice super expensive Gulf 10w40 over my drive.
At 1st i though it was the pipes and not tightened but its just pissing out of the relocations points now.
Granted its an ebay job relocation kit. Thats my 1st mistake. Epic fail there.

Thing is i have no room to do anything. I dont even think i can remove the relocation plate behind the engine because its too tight and the supercharger  is in the way. Type S suxxxs. Sucks black sweaty balls and its stupid oil filter position.

Im going to try and remove it all and just stick the filter back into its original place since there is some room unlike the US guys.

Now what do i do about my oil pressure and oil temperature sensors. No where to connect them. Unless i get a sandwich plate which again myight leak.

Edited so that all readers know exactly what Ratty meant when he wrote the first para.

EDIT: PS, sorry to hear of your troubles Ratty :( How is your relocation thingy intended to attach and seal exactly? What could be causing it to leak (I mean, more than just it being an ebay jobber! lol)?

You just need to sensor locations or are you putting in a cooler? Out of interest where is the location for the Type-S oil filter? It isnt on the block like a normal H22 is it.

Best place for oil pressure is OEM oil pressure sensor location on the back of the block. The OEM sensor is useless, just junk it. The best place for oil temp is the sump. You can either use a thread adapter and place the sensor in the drain bolt hole or get someone to drill a hole weld a nut onto the sump to mount your sensor. Both locations were suggested to me by PAW, so I used them myself :D .

Be aware that all the bits on the block are 1/8 BSP while all after market sensors are 1/8 NTP ;)

What gauges do you have?

My gauges are Innovate MTX-D with the 1/8 PT sizes. Nothing is ever straight forward.
The OEM location for the oil filter on an S in just below and to the N/S of the intake manifold and angled upwards.
Iv just working on another solution currently. Ill post baack.

I did intend to run an oil cooler. It turns out you cant tighten an fittings by hand and leave it. You need to tighten them up with a wrench which is impossible unless i put them on out of the car.

Yeah I have just gone through all of this myself  It was hard enough on a 4th gen with all of the crap removed.

What you could do is put the relocation sandwich plate on and lightly tighten the hoses. Mark the hose and plate, take the plate off, tighten the hoses to the marks on the plate, then put the plate back on.

So my 227Bhp Type S wasnt a match for your Beemer already?

 Seriously
Supercharging is a PITA!

Its not running propperly yet. Iv literally just finished it. I still need to get it tunned but it started it and it idles at 3k then bouces down to 1k and then back up. I need it to idle right to i can bleed the coolant and then go for a spin.

After alot of searching i think its a crappy IACV. I should have used mine but instead i used a rusty 2nd hand one already installed.

A lot of people have similar issues with the Rotrex kits on the S2000s; great fun if you like fiddling and on the days it's working, but forget Honda reriabirity; it's more like Alfa...

S2000 and Preludes weak point....FRM cylinder walls and boost = Bye bye
But Rotrex do not produce the same boost as a root charger. Roots are much lighter on the engine and it wont see anything about 6 pee ess eye.
