Good suggestion and I hadn't thought of it, but tbh I don't think it would have made a differece really, the industrial hose was just too hard and stiff. So I went and bought some ordinary automotive hose and it's all sorted now. Just a temporary fix to get the car back on the road while I sort out permanent replacement.
The original power steering fluid is horrible btw, yucky dark brown instead of the proper red
