would that cause the wheel to face in at the front though? it all seems straight otherwise, just looks like a full lock with 4ws which is why i was wondering if the tie rod arm had been pulled out a couple of inches from the actuator.

If it was bent where you said would it cause a bit of a tilt in from the top to bottom of the wheel?

I will compare it to the one on the braker, and might replace it anyway but that bolt looks like its gonna be a nightmare so if its not nessecary....

If you need a control arm i have a set AND some bolts to hold them on with (you'll probably have to cut you'rs off) these bolts are also, brand new.

That drivers side rear wheel doesn't look like it turns far enough when (front) steering is on left lock, but turns too far when on right lock, to me... So either 4ws been knocked badly out of alignment, or suspension bent on that corner would be my guess.

It's always difficult to tell from pics though... See what others think to my comment on that.

So my plan of action was gonna be to undo the tie rod end and seperate it from the knuckle, then straighten the wheel up by hand, then screw down the tie rod end so it fits into the knuckle with the wheel straight. tighten it all up and see how it drives.

Does this sound like a reasonable course of action?

My only worry would be how its actually knocked it out of alignment. like i think its pulled the tie rod out a few inches causing it to turn in when it should be straight, but where have those few inches come from? like has it pulled the rod out of the actuator and will it be unsafe and risking it falling out or something if i go with the above method?

*EDIT* how do you adjust the alignment of the rear wheels?

i think im gonna adjust the tie rod to get the wheel as straight as i can and then drive down to the local garage that does 4ws and tell them what happened. im guessing they will know for sure if anything is bent or out of line.

Well i couldnt crack the lock nut for the tie rod, so weather permitting im gonna swap out the actuator and tie rod assembly for the spare i have. it came off a car that looked like the wheels were straight, so i figure if i bolt it on to mine and it straightens the wheels up, it must be a problem with the 4ws actuator, and if its still wonky the problem must be in the suspension somewhere.

Got a set of 17" wheels and a 2ws subframe with all the suspension attached sorted though so either way hopefully will be back on the road by next week!
