Hello and welcome, ignition switches are a fairly common fault but not a bad fix. Dont let it put you off buying if the rest checks out ok. It may cut out on you while driving so get that fixed first. :)

welcome in the ignition switch is a fairly common issue with 5g ludes its a fiddly part to replace but not impossible nearly all vtec's smoke when it activates it isnt an issue unless its like a smokescreen.
check for rust on the arches and the fuel pipe in the passenger rear arch make sure all the warning lights on the dash go on and then off as they should (4ws abs and srs)

Also make sure the rear discs are clean and that the handbrake works

Hey welcome! List I got told to look out for! :-
Crunching in 2nd or 5th
Cambelt flapping (early auto tensioner failure)
Fuel pipes corrode under plastic cover nr passengers side rear arch
Bottom bend on fuel filler neck corrode
Rust at rear arches and sills
Leaky pas lines and pas oil cooler
Leaky crank seals, cam seals etc pretty much all seals
All warning lights come on and go off etc
Check if boot lining is wet.
Sticking rear brakes
Headlight tabs break easy.
Good luck!

i think what you've largely achieved there is to make Preludes sound like a piece of jobby that will fall apart at any given opportunity.

they are really good cars! honest!
check for rear arch rust, but they might use less/no salt over there which would mean it's probably fine.
