could be a number of things ive had similar issue in the past and there could be a problem with the coolant system as i see you mention that in your profile thread. You can also check connections at the ecu in the footwell as i recently found a loose connection between my vtec controller and the ecu.

Ive had all the same symptoms as you mate - changed rad,rad cap, coolant etc etc - had the bulging top hose changed twice - finally got it sorted by blowing into the rad cap neck and forcing out the coolant thru the bleed nipple - if you dont fancy doing this yourself then some garages have a machine that will do this for you - could just be a blockage somewhere or an air lock. If the top hose bulges then you need to replace this asap. Hope this helps
and b4 i forget check the rubber seal on the rad cap

check your throttle position sensor mate, get a multimeter and checked voltages at fully closed and wide open throttle.
should be 0.45v @ no throttle & 4.50v @ full wide open throttle - with a smooth transisition between the 2, if the voltage jumps at all as you're slowly opening and closing the throttle then the TPS is the culprit and the ECU cannot work out where the throttle is.
make sure you measure at the ECU and do it the way the service manual states.
