sqeeky sound :(

Post by minimoose » Sun Dec 01, 2013 2:39 am

Lowered my car bout month back on apex springs for 30-40mm drop. Noticed past week that developed a squeeky noise that sounds like one spring is bouncing too much any ideas what it could be? Also got whining noise when turning the steering wheel :s
Any ideas? I have hit few speed bumps a little harder than I should have :( bad times

Does the whining noise happen when the car's stationary as well as on the move? Any clue whereabouts that noise seems to come from? It could be unconnected with the other noise and from the power steering you see... Pump or rack at worst case, or if there's a small leak anywhere on the power steering system and it draws in air, that will cause a whining noise.

Whining noise from what I can tell is just when stationary. I thought might have been power steering pump tbh.

That might well just be air getter into the system then. Have a good look round all the pipes for any leaks. If fluid can get out, air can get in and that will cause the noise.
:? Also, are you sure the belt isn't slipping?

The suspension squeek could be the wishbones. I replaced my front wishbones last summer, and drivers side likes to creak or squeek. I keep blasting it with silicone spray to quieten it for a while
Try bouncing the car in each corner to see if you can pin point the noise.
