ABS and 4WS lights after lowering car?

Post by Therealjj91 » Tue Dec 10, 2013 3:55 pm

As above I had my car lowered over the weekend by my mechanic and now the ABS & 4WS lights are on the dash. The 4ws still works as it should etc. but he said he can turn the lights off with some doohiggy but we couldn't find the ABS ecu? Where is it located on a 1998 5th gen 2.2?

I think he could damage one of ABS sensors. First I would do selfdiagnosis. If anything will be wrong with sensors then 4ws will throw a fault stright away and it's absolutely normal.

If you have the 4WS light on it's not working as it should :?

Have you tried doing a 4WS reset? The 4WS and ABS use the same sensors IIRC.

Get the codes first and then if that's not making any sense, try the reset. Codes are explained in the manual (download from the wiki section) and also explained in the wiki section - everything you should need is here;

I'd agree with Mario, if they've had the suspension apart it's quite possible they've damaged a sensor/the lead to a sensor. More likely to be one of the rear sensors if it's putting on 4ws fault light.

Actualy just noticed that the link in the wiki for 4ws codes, doesn't work :? @indigolemon

Anyway, if you check the service manual for your car, it will tell all abut how to get the codes out.

Hmm, seems like someone has created the link, but not yet created the page. There are a few others like that on there. Need to give the wiki elves a kicking I think ...
