i find it very different using engine braking in rwd to fwd. i think you have to be a lot more careful about it. you cant just dump'n the clutch and hit the brakes at the same time.

as to braking... um. no. I cant say i have noticed anything. but for the fact you need to put the clutch in if you want to pull the handbrake on whilst in motion

why your holding the handbrake for too long its supposed to be momentary just to unsettle the car

@merc: not good for the clutch to lock the engine up imho, or the engine.. just need to dip it as you tweak the HB. not all the way in like, just take the load off. gets it rocking :o 's what I was told at the drift day i went to so that what i have to go on.

@wurly: well the main difference is if you are aggressive with clutch braking in FWD the car will generally just slow down harder and give a harsh shunt through the drive train. In a RWD you will lock up the back wheels with the same aggression or less as well as send the shunt through the drive train. FWD in this insatance is ALOT safer.

also, imho, engine braking in a FWD is more progressive as you are introducing the braking force to the front wheels where as in RWD that force is dragging you which is less stable to my mind. like you can add braking force to the front wheels and its just more force where you want it but you upset the whole feel and balance of the car doing it with RWD as you mess up the bias.

Obviously this is at full chat and having a lark rather than normal usage.

no not drifted, old school getting the arse out I suppose I did dip the clutch but fast feet and all that never had the handbrake on for more than a second just to unbalance the car.
