Hi Folks,

I need a pair of brake lines for the front of my 3rd gen Accord following it's MOT fail, and I'm considering getting some custom braided hoses made up :think: Compared to a pattern set of rubber hoses they seem to work out cheaper?! :?

I can find the hose measurements easily enough, but how can I tell what fittings I have on my brake lines? From the service manual I believe it's an M10 banjo fitting on the caliper end, but what goes on the other end? There's a jobby ton of different fittings and sizes and I'm out of my depth :lol:

Can anyone recommend reputable sources for custom brake hoses? I've found a site online but they seem so cheap that I'm kind of questioning if they're going to be any good... Brakes are kind of important after all :lol:

Also, are there any downsides to using braided hoses instead of rubber ones?

Any help greatly appreciated :)

Right, I think the hard lines end in a M10 x 1.0 pitch thread. Looking at other braided hoses for Hondas they use a female swivel circlip fitting to attach to this - is this what I need? :? I'll strip the old hoses off the car to be sure, but I'd just like to get my head around what I need in order to get an idea of cost involved.

Just take the whole line, fittings included, along to a half decent industrial hose supplier, they'll match up the fittings and do the correct length of flexible hose to replace your solid redundant copper or steel ones.

a good set of braided goodridges won't go amiss, no rust or corrosion, either. Will also be available from an industrial hose supplier.

Cheers guys :) I meant to update this - I've figured out what fittings I have either end, and what brackets I require. I'm measuring the length of each hose as we speak, and will be ordering a set of braided hoses tomorrow 8-)

good stuff, you might also be surprised how cheap a hose supplier locally may be, if you have the free time to go to branch with the old lines 'in hand'

I might just see if there are any suppliers locally - I can't get the car welded up until Saturday at the earliest so I'm in no rush as such. They might be be better equipped to measure my hose accurately too (snigger), as I'm struggling to compensate for the bends that have set into them using only my shitty tape measure :lol:

Dont want to body lemonade on your chips but your better off measuring tip to tip as a braided hose fitting is usually longer than a crimped on end on a rubber hose. Im off to a local hose and end supplier in the morning for 8.5 metres of braided hose and 16 various fittings for a project I have on the go atm

Yeah, the site I was going to order from said measure end to end including the fittings, which I did. It's just the bends are really stubbornly set in so I know I'm not measuring it accurately. I was just going to add 10-20 mm on to my measurements if I ordered them online. Just texted my mechanic mate who recommended some local suppliers as well so may poke my head in there if I get a chance.
