It's kinda question should I use socket or open head spanner to undo bolts.

I have glare spanner and I was using it once. On my brothers in law civic we used open head one. In both cases we won. So it's a metter of luck but why to try it for a few quid? :D
I bet one day (for buying proper tool) won't make a big different comparing to time losen for making new hard lines.

Funny, a couple of us have been talking about this recently, w.r.t specialist tooling for ludes...

Needs a survey done on popular, common, but infrequently used tools. if that doesn't seem contradictory. For example: My 1200 yam needs a special tool to lever the shim holder up so that new or different shims can be put in place for the valve gaps. A new one is 70 quid, the club hire one out at 8 quid a pop. Full value deposit is needed in lieu of its use , 70 quid, returnable on safe return of the item to nominated tools holder within one month. The initial investment is then re-couped after 10 ish uses, communaly. The big question(s) is are... how is the initial investment paid for, how many items need to be covered, who administers / holds the items in stock. Step one, would be a concensus on parts commonly used, which have a relatively high initial investment cost. Anyone with a bit of underwriting/ actuarial experience would may be able to calculate invest cost, over hire cost, to ensure the initial investment is recouped within a reasonable timeframe.

back to my other subject, here's a list of items available from a well known m/cycle single make club with hire costs included: Bearing removal Tool £4.00 , valve Clearance Tool £8.00 Vacuum Gauges £8.00 Compression Tester £10.00 Valve Spring Compressor Tool £10.00 Clutch Holding Tool £10.00 Service Manual £2.000 Ignition Diagnostic Service Loom £10.00. I would (g)estimate that the hire costs are approx. 10% of the initial purchase costs in most cases, discuss.

Maybe it's an idea (not that it lucrative for me overseas) to give members the possibility to rent out tools they have laying about in the garage. That way the owner/investor wheel be guaranteed to make money on their own investment, so no hassle about who invested how much in the complete tool bank and how much needs to be paid to witch toolbank member.

sort of a new section "for rent section" next to the parts and car for sale section.

And then of course we can make curtain rules regarding rental price in comparison to retail value and maximum age of curtain tools that deteriorate after time.
