Really. Ok. Ignition coils are not too expensive but the ignitors are. For the price of both i can get a new dizzy.
Might just try the coil for now and drill out the rounded screw and put the other ignitor i have in.

I put in new engine grounds. One from the valve cover to the new power steering pump bracket and one from the bracket to the front slam panel. 0awg.Vtecmec wrote:Sounds like it's almost there, you mentioned the engine earths are maybe a bit ropey? Might be worth sorting them out before putting any new dizzy parts on, as I'm sure you are aware that poor earths can send a dizzy to the graveyard.
Maybe i have screwed the dizzy having little/not engine grounds.

That's possible.RattyMcClelland wrote:Maybe i have screwd the dizzy havning little/not engine grounds.
I think the most significant earths are the ones to the thermostat housing followed by the gearbox, when I did mine, I put those two straight to the battery terminals for piece of mind, then replicated all the other OEM ones. The valve cover is insulated from the rest of the engine, so that earth won't help the engine at all really.

Have you still got the original battery terminals under the bonnet? Stick the battery back under the bonnet temporarily?
Or can you connect up jump leads from the van directly to the positive on the alternator and negative directly to the block (with the van running) just to rule out any of that shenanigans? I know that hasn't changed since the latest work on the engine, but you just need to rule everything out now, right?

No its completely wired in new. But again it all worked before. The battery relocation was done before the supercharger.
Low and behold my new ignition coil arrived at 6pm. I ordered it at 4pm.
Having a brother in law with his own garage and a trade account with parkers parts helps loads.
Will wap it in tomorrow and see how it goes.

Still nothing
Same almost starting but dying as it starts.
Spark seems more blue but i am looking at it in the dark.
All 4 HT leads have spark.
Can the cylinders be flooded with fuel? Injectors must be working since there is fuel in the cylinder and the fuel rail sprays out fuel when unbolted.
All i can think of now is changing the ignitor over.
