My clocks did this the other week and i replaced the unit and that sorted it out - also got a dodgy connection to the front headlight - seems ok now but might have to replace the connector.wurlycorner wrote:Mine's just gone plain devious now! I know how to catch the bugger out
I'll do it when I'm not being used...

Used it yesterday and the clock was just over an hour fast (it was fine last time I used the car).
Went to adjust it and after I stopped adjusting the minutes (let go of the switch and it returned to the middle) it ran on for another 3-4 minutes. Did that repeatedly, even did it when I flicked the switch straight from adjusting minutes all the way over to hours (the hours adjusted while the minutes were still adjusting...)
So for that to be the case, it either is crap on the board giving slightly low resistance between pins, or the adjustment switch isn't actually a 3-position switch (hr-off-min) it's 2x 2-position switches (hr on-hr off and min on-min off) that the plastic knob floats in between and the minute one is sticking...
Gonna have to come apart and be cleaned to sort this one by the looks
Just wondering if youve got the same issue as you mentioned you lude lost one of its headlights the other day

Dont know if these two things are connected or its just a coincidence

ahh thats no good
i fitted a new clock unit and as soon as i went to adjust the time it started doing the same so im thinking i might need a new instrument cluster either that or there is a loose connection/short somewhere - might have a go at cleaning the tracks on the back of the cluster i have first tho

While I had the dash apart to fit the EL dials, I looked into this.
This is the adjuster knob off the back of the instrument panel.

The black cover unclips and comes off
There's a switch mounted on a PCB inside it.

I've just given it a really good clean up with electro wash all over the outside and up inside it. Early days, but the clock adjusted properly after, so that's progress!
