Coolant Reservoir after battery relocation solutions

Post by RattyMcClelland » Sat Feb 08, 2014 12:01 am

I have forgotten about my coolant reserve tank after relocating the battery.
At the moments its in the same place but tied with string and freely moving about.

What are peoples solution to making a more permanent install.

Aftermarket reservoir? Does the tank need to be at the same height as the rad?

There is certainly more room at the other side of the slam panel where the AC rad used to be.

I was thinking about moving my battery to trunk and also spotted this issue. IMHO you can use ori mount to made custom one. Just cut a bit from battery metal base, and bend it. Then like you said move on the other side of the slam panel and screw this newly made bracket to it. I dont think one inch or so will make big different so even if it will be a bit lower it will still do it's job. Even in OEM position fluid top level in reservoir is lower then rad level.

Where is/will be your battery now? Did you used any dedicated aftermarket bracket or custom one? Pics would be appreciated

I made a custom bracket and left the reservoir in the original place. It is made of two parts:
1. Drilled off original reservoir holder
2. Custom plate, which is bolted to one original battery holder hole, and to which the original reservoir holder is bolted.

It's a pity I can't find any photos right now. I can make one after a week or so, but I guess the idea is clear.

Wouldn't have thought it would have needed to be the same height as the rad as the res is there to bleed pressure off the system
