Not sure what problem was before mate the plugs had melted a little bit that's why I got the ceramic connectors and changed the stalks I know I shouldn't be using 100watt bulbs the only reason I'm using them is beacaue for sum reason whatever bulbs I buy they all seem to be rubbish even the nighbreakers I bought I'll refit the ceramic connectors and fit the standard wattage bulbs and get another indicator stalk and hopefully it will fix the problem

Could be the plug connector/immediate wiring to the indicator stalk, and by chance temporarily sorted itself out when you swapped the stalk over the last time?

How much do you wanna pay for?

When you changing bulbs connectors it's a good practise to cover them with special grease. You probably found this on old connectors and also door loom connectors, and maybe somewhere else. This will protect against the corrosion, but also helps cooling it down.

Defo bin them 100W bulbs. They doesnt make a lot more light and using twice as much power which is adequate to double the current consumption. It overheating whole system and reducing life span of all components including headlights. At this point you need to check all wirings, connectors, stalk, headlight relay, headlight reflector, and maybe I missed something. Any of them can be the issue. Even if not now then sooner or later. TBH for me it sounds like stalk again or related connector.

The only right way to improve your headlights is HID but only in retrofited lenses. I did it and I can only recommend it.

I said this before and I'll repeat it. It's not about bulbs but headlight reflectors. They're rubbish and whatever bulb you'll put in it, it still going to be rubbish.

I agree. Prelude headlights are rubbish. I've also gone HID with some retrofitted projectors. The light output is excellent, and uses less wattage than the standard halogen bulbs.
I would definitely go back to standard bulbs, but would also take the steering cowl off and check the cables and connectors going to the stalk.

prelude headlights are bit dated..

when I had the EG civic, thought that was worse than the lude..

couldn't see jobby

HID or even halogen projectors are good improvement, if you can work out how to mount them in

Agree, if you've been running 100w bulbs on standard setup, you need to check all the wiring from the headlight connectors to the fuse box in the engine bay and also to the earth point on the chassis.

Also just replace the headlight relays.
The contacts inside have very probably overheated, which means they'll be pitted and dirty and so sometimes they'll work ok, sometimes they won't.
For the sake of getting some second hand relays off a breaker on here, don't bother trying to check them, just replace them all.

In fact...
Also, for the cost of buying a second hand fuse box off a breaker on here, just replace the whole engine bay fuse box.
There may be some tracking damage inside it due to overheating that you may/may not see, and it's just not worth the hassle of stripping it down to try and check it, when you can probably get a known good replacement for £15.

The higher current draw of the 100w bulbs shouldn't have caused any damage to the headlight switch, because that only switches the low current side of the relays, so any damage should be limited to the relays, engine fuse box and engine bay wiring.

I had headlight troubles a little while ago and the Auto Electrician that came out blamed the cheap eBay bulbs I was using because they caused my wires to melt, they even ruined my ceramic connectors. Apparently it's something to do with the poor quality of the bulbs and the metals used in them. He fixed it all with some fault finding, fitting new H4 connectors on the loom, a bit of heat-shrink to cover the joins and a couple of new bulbs for £30. I then fitted some 120% brighter Halfords bulbs (buy one get one free), and now the only issue I have with my lights is oncoming traffic flashing their lights at me thinking I'm hi-beaming them!
