H22a8 h22a
Hi, been looking around and I can't seem to find any engines for sale with a h22a8 engine for sale, are they really rare? Or is the h22a engine the same thing? I no the h22a5 and h22a7 are different from mine. But some blocks just have the h22a printed on them and no other details ? : / appreciated the help, thanks in advance

Gearboxes are interchangeable, except type-s (the atts makes it all different).
H22a8's are the least common type.
They were also fitted to type-s 5th gens, but if you find an h22a8 from a type-s, you don't want it - it won't fit because the block is different to take the atts unit on the type-s gearbox.
Other than that, differences between the different h22s are essentially different cams and compression ratios.
An h22a5 would drop straight in a non type-s h22a8 lude, but you might need the ecu from the donor car as well. Presumably the looms would be the same... Anyone? 5th gen experts? Is that right?
Edit:
might need to swap your distributor off the a8 onto the a5 as well.

FWIW/clarity the H22a8 above also has a red top.mills wrote:H22a is found in Jdm ludes, the type s has the red top H22a with the extra bhp.
H22a8 is found in all UK manual ludes from 99 onwards.
H22a5 is found in all UK manual ludes from 97 - 99, and all UK automatic ludes.
I'm not sure, but this may be the first time I have ever been "On topic" in a vaguely technical thread

Good luck with it.
