Jdm Reg

Post by GreenyUK » Wed Feb 19, 2014 4:45 pm

Could I possibly use a reg from somebody with a import prelude so I can get the right part please

My lude is off the road waiting for a manifold to down pipe gasket I ordered one off eBay about 4 days ago.
It turned up today and is bloody wrong, it's too small guessing from a uk car.

So I need a jdm reg so i can to a parts place and get it. As. Well know you have to do 95% of a parts persons job

Will a JDM number plate do you any good? Any time I am asked for my plate and I tell them it is an import they grumble.

There is a whole profile section full of JDM 4th gens for you to nick a number from. Look for a BB4 ;)

Well just flew down to the local parts place armed with reg's lol and they can't find anything!
I'd never understood why this is so hard!

What am going to do now lol surely I don't have to go to honda and pay over price for a simple gasket

If this is standard exhaust, then the manifold to down pipe isn't a gasket, it's 2x crush rings.
I got them from Honda. Otherwise you could get them from an exhaust place but would have to know the diameter and thickness of them. They weren't very expensive from Honda IIRC? :?

Honda will want a VIN rather than number plate to look up parts for a JDM.

If it's an aftermarket manifold/downpipe, for that reason you won't be able to track down an off-the-shelf replacement gasket.

That's what happened to me on Monday at Honda when I ordered my new o ring for oil cooler they couldn't find my prelude with the reg number so they got the vin number and it came up

Just as a heads up my local Honda dealer can't find anything on my car by reg or VIN, they moan about the short JDM VIN number not working in Hondacom.

What I do is use lings to manually choose a 1993 Prelude VTEC, and get the part numbers from there ;) I've bought exhaust crush rings previously too, iirc they were about a tenner for the mid section ones.

Oh really! It's a standard exhaust and down pipe. The reason I thought there was a gasket is A. eBay list them and they look the correct size B looking one the down pipe I can see and colour difference out line of where a gasket looks like it's been :?

Well if it's crush rings they must be well seated inside the down pipe as nothing came off and both part are flush flat.
