Hi welcome to LG!!
For enjoyment on the track you need to get the brakes sorted IMO. Super DOT 4 brake fluid (Castrol Super Response or Motul RBF 600 etc.. from Opie Oils whom gives us a discount), braided hoses are pretty much a must, and as soon as you wear out your discs I would replace with blank versions. All the grooved and dimpled will do is eat your pads when they get hot.
Front and rear strut braces are a good idea, as is a set of coilover suspension, polybushes too.
As said get a proper wheel alignment by someone who knows what they are doing, it will make all the difference.
Do not use the full slicks unless you have a cage! When they let go they wont give you much notice. Most track will not let cars with full slicks on unless they have a cage. Also the full slicks will work your brakes more, maybe too much
I have just gone though the hassle of trying to get a cage and came up with a blank (I am getting a custom multipoint weld in made for me). I think some members paid around £1200 for a basic 6 point bolt in safety cell.
I stripped my interior, AC and everything from under the dash and only managed to get 150kg off the car but since I have a BB4 there wasn't much for me to strip in the first place
.
As for your gutless pickup before VTEC it sounds like you have a small issue but it could be anything. Sounds like it needs a good service and some basics checked, like ignition timing.

Re: mid life crisis/ track day car
I've striped my interior and there's a bit more to take out still but I've shaved nearly 200kgs of the car so far.

Wow, lots to take in. Got some strut braces now, but a big box is in the way. Needs moving a few inches down ? In the rear. Got some new leads went on lovely. The pads recommended came today ds2500 , look the bollocks. So brake lines and calipers need sorting someone said.
This cheap spanker is turning into a money pit but its a lot of bang for your buck.
I thought slicks were the best , ran semi slicks and they were great.

Aye, £276 for the kit, including trailing arm bushes and anti-roll bar bushes. It takes 1.5 - 2 days to do.wurlycorner wrote:Polybush kit itself is around 180 for everything. Fitting wise, it'll take a while if you're doing it yourself. @CARRisma recently paid to have his fitted so should be able to give you an idea of the cost all in, there?
