Yep, the standard h22a8 intake is pretty much regarded as good as expensive after market ones (like AEM v2). Surprising, but apparently tested as true!

A decent header and exhaust is a good move.

cool def more money to spend elsewhere! where would I get a good header from? cos im more or less sorted for cat back.

I would buy a japspeed one but ive been told they don't fit on h22a8?

If you're changing the whole exhaust then buy what you want, it's mixing aftermarket with OEM that doesn't work.

Japspeed ones don't really offer any performance advantage over OEM setup.

Any H22 header could be bought for an h22a8, but would need to be modified (extended), or if you buy a catback for an h22a/h22a5, you can just stick a header meant for one of those straight on with it, IIRC? :? I think that's right, 5th genners??? <EDIT:Donald has already answered this, between when I wrote this post and when I actually got it submit from an underground station! >

There's a few to choose from out there, depends how much you want to spend :D

Fujitsubo are decent, or if you want to spend even more money, hitech or bisimoto, or get one custom made by solid fabrications, or the guy nafeman used (I forget his name...).

I would investigate thoroughly any mods before you buy them. Intakes, Japspeed manifolds and other things are a waste of money.

The a8 is a right git to get an exhaust for. It shares no exhaust part with any other Ludes (maybe back box though).

I have an H22a8 and I think it is fast enough for public roads. I spent my cash on coilovers, strut braces and brakes (discs, pads, fluid, braided hoses), I didnt bother with an aftermarket exhaust. The car is fast (enough), handles great and stops great.

I agree to all comments there maybe I am being a little hasty in adding to already great car. but I want to turn this thing into a beast! lol unfortunately knowing how is as always, proving difficult. :? I really fancy getting custom header ive already emailed solid fab about prices but still awaiting reply.

as a side note I want to wipe the smirk off my mates face with his ek6 sir hahahaha,

but most importantly enjoy the project and seeing the series of changes happen over the year. ive only ever owned two cars and they are both PRELUDES! :D

UPDATE on h22a8

fitted flat panel k and n filter

got all 4 alloys re sprayed

front 2 fitting Uniroyal rainsports 3s

wire brushed every wheel arch and surrounding metal components ready to give coat of kurust then a spray over with silver hammerite rust proofing paint then will final coat over heavy hit areas with under seal leaving it worry free for at least a year,

after trying to reset 4ws over ten times I realised I had to look further and after getting myself a shiny new jack and stands yesterday i found first possible the plug that goes into center hub at back the plastic guard has been slowly melting away due to exhaust temp or bad fitting, i don't know but also the exposed wires that come direct out the plug one has been caught and re joined and taped so once i get front wheels back will jack up back and take apart plug wires etc and see if its simply a faulty connection

this is my problem!! turns out wire that had been insulating taped was also glued back to plug with a black tacky material. main problem now is how in the hell do I get that wire back in the plug? do the internal spades come out to crimp back in? cos after being on my back for half an hour trying to figure it out I ended up pretty crabbit!

update!!! only 7 days to go for mot! ive finally reset srs light and for two days now it hasn't re appeared so happy days! :D unfortunately 4ws isn't so simple I bought a new 4ws harness of a breaker and replaced rear plug with new one joining wires together after cutting it off, rough I know but I don't have means to replace whole harness,

once done I reset 4ws steer but immediately it came back on I pulled code 25 from dash its main angle sensor and rear sub sensor how easy are these to replace or repair?

I feel I have went as far as I can with my part but if I had good info to tell my mechanic he could easily re fit etc.
