Torsion bar >:(

Post by Donald » Fri Mar 14, 2014 4:01 pm

So I have a problem with this pissing clip business like a few other 5th genners.

You can see how it's broken in the picture below but the clip still holds pretty tight, I think if I can get it back around the torsion bars it may still work. If I pull apart at the broken point it doesn't seem to want to go anywhere, if it works when I refit it I'll slop loads of glue on it I guess.

What I need is a picture of someone else's clip fitted, if I locate it in the metal where it would normally live the torsion bars don't seem to be in a position where they would fit, at least not how I can see.

I dunno if the bars have decided to go on a 'body lemonade-Donald-off' journey as well and have bent beyond all buggery but I'm fed up of the horrible scrape-clanging sound the boot makes when I shut it. I know I can get another clip but if the bars are guff too then I'll just bin them.

FUKAMKNVG it's ded.

Got it back on and relocated in the mangled metal bit and it was nice and snug. Survived 5 or so open/close tests. Sitting in the drivers seat doing something else and I just heard it ping off somewhere  Thought I'd scientifically repositioned the bent metal it came out of properly (used a tiny hammer and some wood) but of course it has passed it's limit.

I'm pretty certain I don't have one or ever needed one. I'll check over the weekend.

Assuming you're talking about the clip, you don't need one as such, the boot still stays up fine it just means the bars rub against the top of boot and the speakers.

I have the same problem as you Donald. It's really annoying to have the torsion bars make the noise.. I have lost the clip some where. How much is the clip brand new from Honda? I think my metal bit (the bit where the clip goes on the parcel shelf) is also bent :? I tired to cable tie the bitches but it made the parcel shelf bent :(

Was soo annoying at one point I felt like chopping the torsion bars off

The clip is only a few quid from Honda, but that's not the issue really - my broken clip held the bars fine, just the clip wouldn't stay in where it's meant to because the metal is bent.
