When I looked back through benny's thread last night, that one dodgy bolts has been on there from the start, since it came back from the engine builders it would seem. If it was going to slip, it probably would have by now?NafemanNathan wrote:You had dodgy bolts on the cam gears anyway didn't you, so hopefully it's that.
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

Had a decent look. With the excisting timing marks on the pulleys they seem to line up bang on with each other, but when you move the crank to tdc they move out of alignment :/ could both cams have jumped ot the belt jumped on the crank?? The belt was a bit loose so could've been the crank :/
I've asked Benny how he timed it and if the marks on the pulley were at exact tdc
I did start it up again and it sounded jobby so turned it off syraight away. Don't wana risk doing any damage to her
will probably get a new belt soon too

Sweet cheers for that
the pulleys are still on 4° advance on inlet and 4° retard on exhaust, so I've had a think and I think its the crank that's slipped a tooth so as long as the timing marks on the cams are meant to be aligned with the crank it should all be sorted by the end of the day, or I hope anyway lol
Il let you all know how it goes later

Doesn't look good :/ I don't think it was out of time, we got it all timed up and cranked the engine over by hand and the inlet cans making a massive clunking noise.
Took the rocker cover off but can't see anything obvious. I don't know whether a valve has snapped, maybe a spring or something as silly as a valve clearance screw undone?
Don't know what would explain the iratic rev gauge and the spluttering :/
Going to search on the interweb for head parts so If I know one thing's gone I know where I can buy it. Anyone know of any decent places to start searching? EBay has nothing lol

would it be worth doing an engine swap if the head on this is buggered and parts are hard to find is it engine swap time
H22 maybe
trying to think of any positives :L
Edit:
been told it may be a sticky valve, im guessing the heads gana have to come off what ever happens so how would i check this? I've never really done much head work apart from on mini's which are simples lol
im gana get it towed tomorrow and then start to strip it, i ideally need the car running for next monday as i have an interview for Xtrac
so hopefully its not too badly ruined :/ will get a new cam belt too as the ones starting to wear a bit (you can see the teeth marks on the outside of the belt)
I've spoken to benny and hes trying to find the sites where he got the parts from so hopefully if it needs anything i can get them pretty sharpish and get her running again lol
