Hate the torsion bar system, last time I had mine fixed it popped out after a few months, probably due to aftermarket speakers. Keep meaning to fit gas struts like Cebul did in his, much better solution.

Curious. Noticed my bars rubbing against the stock speakers. Yet my clip is in place, and I have no issues opening the boot from the interior handle, or it staying up in the breeze.

Dumbfounded.

I fitted gas struts to my auto one first week I got it. Aoll plastic clips had broke and the new 6x9s I put in literally stopped boot from closing. The struts don't allow boot lid to go 100% up but is plenty of room to go in and out of :P

Looks like it's trying imitate a Merc SLK, but it's just realised it forgot one rather crucial part of the design... :hurr:

There are two holes that locate the clip but one is obscured in your picture by the bar.

No I don't have that lip and as you say I can't imagine Honda designing two systems just for some poxy torsion bars.

If you look at the blue ringed bit you can see it's the same shape as the hole that the clips sits in, it looks like someone has made a new bit to replace the damaged area, given up and just stuck it on and pulled a lip up? If you look in your boot at the red ringed bit I imagine it's mangled.
Took a look at mine this morning after I posted, mine is in the same state, mangled points as ringed.

They look like really simple adapters with a hinge......fabricated yourself @honda-hardy?
