Yea, it's exactly that noise

And you're positive it's the belt catching the cover? Like, if you remove all the casing the whine goes away if you rev the engine? It's been driving me mad haha.

not positive, haven't tried that. TBH i think the belt rubbing is a symptom not a cause of the noise, it shouldnt foul the casing if everythings in good working order.

just a quick update, took it to a honda garage to see what they thought

They said it was either the tensioner or water pump and offered to replace these 2 and the belt for £700 (which I politely declined!) interesting that they didn't think it was related to the pulley. I honestly don't believe a water pump makes a noise like this, and it's had a manual tensioner put in so I'm betting that's OK as well.

In my quest I've also found this, about TYPES of cambelt used...

Interesting read on that thread. I had the cambelt done on my UKDM at Honda around 2010 though and it didn't come back with any supercharger noise...

Have seen this said a few times - How do you do this? Can it be done with belts in situ?

You might have to take power steering belt off to gain better access, not essential to take bottom timing belt cover off but you may want to just to inspect.

The adjusting nut is the one that protrudes from the lower cover. You will have to use wrench and probs lever it with another wrench or pipe. No room for a socket.:-

Its pretty easy tbf. Good luck
