I'm.not sure, no, but loads of people tow stuff using import 4x4s over here. The police wouldn't even bother to look unless they saw you towing something that they thought might take you over the limit, in which case they might pull you over and start asking questions, but I can't see them pulling you over on the off chance just to check if your car has a stamped up plate on it!

I think it's just the trailers that must say have a plate saying what their load capacity is, etc. not the tow car.

Find out the specs on line, print them off and take them with you?

Or if they ask, just point them at a sticker that's all in jap and tell them that's the load sticker and they're welcome to translate!

Is the Trooper not the UK equivalent? I'd have thought they'd go off that as a guideline.

I plan to take my B+E this year and use the Isuzu for towing, but it doesn't appear to have a plate detailing it's MAM for towing as it's a Japanese import... Theoretically does this mean VOSA could collar me for towing with it?
Considering at the moment you have just the B licence, gov.uk says:
Category B

You can tow trailers up to 750kg MAM (maximum authorised mass).

You can also tow larger trailers if:
- the combined trailer and vehicle weight isn’t more than 3,500kg
- the fully-loaded trailer weight isn’t more than the unladen vehicle weight
So as long as you stick within that, you're good to go?

B+E you can tow what you want, unless I presume a plate being present saying a limit will mean you can't exceed it. No plate = no limit?
