Thanks for the kind words guys. Makes all the effort worthwhile.

Wurly, I drove through some major floods during the winter and completely covered the engine with muddy water.

Vanzep, she hit 100,000 km a few days ago.

New Brake Disks, Pads & Caliper Refurbishment

Post by Pushki » Sat Jul 05, 2014 6:55 pm

June 2014

After about six months of preparation and collecting parts I was ready to overhaul my brakes. :?

Black Diamond 12 Groove front and rear disks.
Image

Honda OEM front and rear brake pads.

Some, but not all of the parts and products I needed. Paints, grease, crush washers, decals, replacement seals etc.

Image

I didn’t want my new disks to rust after a few weeks so I masked them up ready to paint. :geek:

Image

My makeshift rotating spray booth. Second coat of etch primer applied.

Top coat metallic silver

The next step was to overhaul the filthy, rusty calipers. :x

After a lot of wire brushing I got them down to the bare metal. :P

Painted and assembled with new seals where appropriate.
Greased with either silicone or rubber grease as per the service manual. :ugeek:

Finally all the parts were ready to fit back onto the car. :-P

I painted the shields satin black and coated the hubs with a thin layer of copper grease.

This is after a week or so of bedding in.

Summer wheels on! Yay!!

The pads and disks aren’t fully bedded in yet, but they feel so much more responsive now and the handbrake has a smoother action. :D
