Hey, if I couldn't go into tesco and buy near 8 cans of beer for the price of a pint of the same in a pub maybe some more of my hardearned would go into the coffers. As it is every pub can just drokking do one while the culture is as it is.

I used to love the pub, twas the mainstay of my sociallife, now i feel raped every time I go into one, even though I have more money available now than i ever had when using them.

Its easy to kill a thousand year old tradition with greed and taxes.

Agreed, 8 large cans of Stella form a supermarket, or two pints (barely) from a pub, no contest.. regrettably

Supermarkets selling beer as a deliberate loss leader and buying up old pubs to turn into supermarkets... double whammy!

Pubs get raped by their brewers/pub co's. A lot more could.be profitable if they weren't tied to their supplier and the prices set by them (which then makes the prices to the consumer so high).

I've stopped doing any shopping in Tesco's because they're the biggest kebabs buying up and ruining pubs. Plus they're skanky and break basic fire safety laws in every shop. kebabs.

Except they've blocked the fire exits wth stock trolleys, so climbing over people will achieve nothing, as the American nightclub fire video will shockingly demonstrate...

I have given up drinking but still use a Pub for meals(The Fox at Yate) 2 for one but as everyone agrees drink is dear. What I can't abide is uncontrolled children running about screaming so I can see the attraction of a few bottles of cans at home with a nice meal, take away or home cooked. That pub is a couple of miles from a massive Tesco and Morrison's. If the trade dies the pub would not even have another use except as a massive bungalow!

I use my local pub quite a lot, it's busy from fri-sun, and the rest of the week is not crowded, but usually has a few people in whenever I swing by. The food is ace, and they always have a decent selection of Craft Ales/Ciders on tap for less than £3 a pint.

So yeah, all in all, I really like it. Would rather go there with some mates than sit in the flat with some tinnies.

same story here in Wales as indigolemon, plenty of great pubs I use with nice food & drink still - I see a lot of refurbished pubs around here these days. Maybe its just England going down the pan... ;) like it's football team :D
