The centre section of the exhaust is still the original that Mr Honda put on it.
I'm aware of this, however they did eventually fire up so will investigate the electrics first before purchasing new.

I've found the problem with the exhaust. I'm assuming as it's a JDM engine you had to get JDM manifold/downpipe, which was then too short for the UKDM cat as the downpipe has been extended using a section of mild steel pipe, which has now rusted and broke free!!

I disagree, plus I thought the E46 was awful to drive.
Terrible driving position.

meh, having worked on it its put together just as well, if not a bit better than the lude. Nuts and bolts, clip connectors etc. The e46 is a dead car to drive when compared to either imo :? The E36/bmw offers you loads more 'stuff' than the lude ever did. Torches in the glovebox, full tool kit, battery in the boot etc etc.

It makes me sad to think people are racist towards a 16 year old car. :( :? surely if its still on the road and beating VXR's its paid its dues. Japanese and german cars are built the best. racalising against one of them is cutting your oportunities for fun by 50%. Thats just retaaarded imho.

I agree on the styling front but function always won over form for me anyway. I like my axe sharp, not shiny.

That's the thing, I've driven plenty and know they're great cars, but they don't make me want to own them. Not sure that even make sense, but I've been at the pub and that's as good an explanation as you're getting.

In summary, I tried BMW, Audi, Seat, Merc, then bought a Volvo  Boosted I5 all the way

Just spotted this thread mate, can't believe your considering getting rid of the lude, you can't go to JAE in a BMW you know.

Joking aside, all cars will cost you more than they're ultimately worth mate, I've spent well over £10000 on my prelude over the years and I'll see very little of that back if I ever come to sell up. If you still enjoy driving it then it's worth every penny as far as I'm concerned. Also there's no guarantee that another car isn't going to cost you as much if not more to keep it in showcar condition.

If you are hellbent on getting a new motor though, make sure it has a 'H' badge on it eh, maybe even another lude. You have to remember you car has a few miles on the clock now, there are still some low mileage examples out there or even a fresh import with no rust.

It's up to you at the end of the day mate but don't rush in to anything. There's plenty of cars out there, go test drive a few see what you think.

@indigo: I do so love the warble of a 5 cylinder    8-) 8-) 8-) My V70 ulricar sounded sweet.

@wurly: well not you with your shed full of french runaways :? :x

I would spend money on a decent car to keep it going. gayno's car is decent but it doesn't meet his standards of acceptable any more, not for a 'show car' anyway. I can agree with him, its relative to the person. there is not that much out there to beat it though....on balance.

Good - wasn't sure if my front bum comment had been misinterpreted!
