Take off the interior trim panel and push it out by hand - you might be surprised how well it comes out, plus nothing much to lose at this stage?

Is the crease very sharp where he pulled it out? Is that the difference?

You need a side shot.
I get customers all the time taking full on face shots of dents to show me and it an utter facepalm moment. Side shot ideally with reflection show the dent to its fullest.

But not bad face on.
