insurance help

Post by Jay_Lude » Thu Jul 10, 2014 2:34 pm

My prelude is currently off the road in a lockup, so it isn't insured but I need to move it in a few days, I've been looking at companies to get a days insurance off, but none of them will seem to insure a modified car for a single day

Does anyone know of any company that will?

do you have another insurance policy or someone else

you could try as temporary vehicle with those policies

but being modified would be tough, you could try websites like insure daily

I don't mate and I tried insure daily they wanted 45 quid for the day, but the fine print says, car must not be modified except for manufacturer extras

You also have the issue of taxing it for a few days.

Do you know someone in the motor trade with trade plates? They could take it for a "test drive"....

You can hire a small car transporters for about £50 a day, basically a van that can carry 1 car on the back.

The car is taxed till next month so tax isn't an issue, but insurance companies are real funny about single day cover

Looks like I'll have to try a trailer for it

If it's taxed, doesn't it have to be insured also?

@Shiny
If the tax runs out, you have to be insured on it to renew the tax yeah

But it had tax when I bought the car a few weeks ago and it's been sat in a lockup uninsured while I worked away, but now I need to insure it for a day to move it to a new lockup, when I'll declare it SORN for a while

I know that you must have insurance to gain tax, however they changed the law to say that if it has tax, it must also have insurance at the same time.

http://www.money.co.uk/article/1006498- ... -legal.htm

IE, if it has no insurance, it MUST be SORN'd
