Hi

Post by ek9sid » Tue Jul 15, 2014 1:25 pm

Hi guys. The name is Sid. Used to have a BB4 and before that I had an EK9. Been away from the Honda scene for a couple of years but today an oport unity presented itself to me and hopefully this weekend I'll be picking up a new (to me) prelude. Don't know much about it as it's a friend of a colleague but it's a 5th gen with 4ws. Just need to get my hands on a crank pulley now :)

Welcome in bud, make yourself at home ;)

@4thGenPhil - not sure if the bottom pulley you have is good for a 5th gen..

I'll post some pictures as soon as I figure out how to get my photobucket account up and running again...loads of pictures on there.

I think so. I've not seen the car as it's a couple of hours away...but my colleague said that it's the crank pulley has come loose and the belts are chewed up. We're both mechanics and I trust what he says :)

Be careful that the pulley has not chewed the end of the crank too where the woodruff key goes, as that's new engine territory.

I imagine that if it has chewed the end of the crank up then a replacement crank would be needed? I'll be able to figure out whether it has or not (hopefully) this weekend.

Yes that's right, it's a reasonably common issue.
