If i whack the valve cover off what am i looking for? Lol im not a noob i just wanna be sure what im doing

Make sure all the nuts atop the tappets are there and that none of the tappets look massivly out

Just checked and everything seems ok although the cam belt seems a fraction loose?! And the sound almost seems like its coming from under the cambelt cover on the side??

Although a garage down the road just told me it sounds like the small end bearings have gone :/

Have you not gone Turbo though? In which case low compression is what you want anyway?
