Not seen it but went through basic it was pretty stressful. The 2 week section on picking and booking the best hotels was the hardest part closely followed by the the week of "ordering beer in 36 languages".

In all seriousness though some of the stories you hear of the new lot coming through do make me sob as to how easy its got, and I didnt particularly get it that hard.

whoa hang on I did nine years in the RAF granted I wasn't a sissy boy playing with toy planes whilst dancing round feeling the other nancy boys engineer

I also speak from experience as I did selection and basic training twice and I defended two countries and I didn't cower in a tent and whine about it being too cold to come out to play with the other boys. Then for the IC and the 2IC to try to coax him out of there rather than grabbing him and dragging him out

I got beaten severely for saying jobby rather than Merde and I mean beaten like a gong

so yes they are all pansies an as they stand on that programme I would quite happily put me and Paul despite our advanced years and pauls health issues up againt the whole training troop

You mean there are RAF blokes that don't get to swan about the world staying in 5* hotels and travelling back on cruise ships then?

have I been misled by every forces bloke I've ever interviewed, employed and worked with then?

no I didn't get to go on cruise ships lol I did stay in brazil on rate ones for about 2 months while a Hercules transport I was flying in had a technical fault

that just happened to coincide with mardigras

For those that do not know I am an ex para. I wonder how many of that lot would pass P Company? Yes that was in 1972 but even though my body is well fooked now it certainly felt worse then. Moaners got a kicking from every one from the senior NCO's to their mates. It was bloody brutal and if you complained you were out on your ear and rightly so you did not want people like that watching your back.
