Better still would be some meaningful political support, rather than the toothless stuff that's been on offer recently.

LLL and Rob - sorry, don't hold with those views in the slightest. I'm sure there were people saying similar things 100 years ago*. Fortunately not everyone has the inevitability roll over and die attitude.

*that's not drawing parallels in severity of the situations, just a timely example of attitudes.

wurly you do realise that 100 years ago europe was tetering on the verge of the first world war?

And that by 1915 a touchy situation in the east that no ne was really paying attention to had blown up and dragged the whole of Europe into a meatginder not seen since Gengis Khan romped over Eurasia?

Just sayin... :D

It wouldn't take much for russia to march into Ukraine and then what? Ok not a member state but moving towards it and they WILL ask for help....

What then? Putin has enough balls to push the point if not go all out. Thats right on time for the next economic crash, which is scheduled for next year.

I wouldn't be buying a house right now

Yes.
Which is why I said 100years ago.
It was a nice timely reference point to use, that I was pretty sure would be understood (as it has been of course :D ) for when people would have been saying the same thing about rolling over and dying (about a more serious situation, hence my also saying I wasn't drawing parallels) but when fortunately they weren't listened to and hence, the 'inevitable' was of course not the inevitable. As with now, I.e. it's not in the slightest bit the case that it's inevitable that Russia will get what they want and lead on to world domination yadayadayada as you're confidently predicting.

While we're on it then, what constitutes this economic crash you're forecasting for next year? (not why etc) but how is your economic crash measured/defined?
