Re: JohnnyB's 'lude
Argh, got to go to China on Sunday for up to 2 weeks so won't be getting much done on the car for a while

Still, gives me a bit more time to save up for new toys, and being away on business for a few weeks means I won't be paying for my own food/beer
Every cloud!

Re: JohnnyB's 'lude
Time for a quick update... As per usual I haven't done much up until the last week or so, but some progress none the less...
First, calipers have been rebuilt with new pistons and seals. I'm pleased with the result but get upset every time someone asks me why they're not painted red... The answer is simple - I have black hammerite in my garage and don't want to spend too much on the old girl until I know she still runs
Anyway, the calipers...

Next was time to strip down the n/s driveshaft and CV joints. The driveshaft was in a bit of a state, about a third of the paint was gone and it was rusty as hell. Since it had the outer CV joint still attached I didnt fancy my chances with the sand blaster so attacked it with the dremel instead, followed by the standard coating of black hammerite

Note the amount of grease on the outer CV joint in the above pic - I'd done nothing except remove a slightly dry CV boot, that's all that was in there. During painting I realised the joint was sticky at best, in fact it locked up a couple of times and only started moving again after I gave it some more than gentle persuasion. I gave it the benefit of the doubt since it had been sat in the garage in the same position for two years so completely degreased it, cleaned it and regreased it. Thankfully it seems spot on now but I'll keep my eye on it.

I've still got the inner CV joint to rebuild but that shouldn't take long. In the meantime I've pressure washed, scrubbed and undersealed the o/s front wheel arch. I also did the front chassis crossmember and a few other bits underneath.

I'm not back at work until Tuesday and have nothing planned for the weekend which is pretty rare - hopefully she'll be sitting on all 4 wheels soon! Then of course I'll have to jack the back end up and start all over again...

Re: JohnnyB's 'lude
Cheers guys, it's nice to see some progress finally - I have to walk past the poor thing every morning to get to my daily driver
I spent several hours on her again today. The n/s wheel arch is now undersealed and I've nearly finished refitting the suspension. O/S is done minus the drop links as I need to get a new set but the n/s still needs the radius arm fitting and everything tightening up. Hopefully I'll get that done tomorrow and pop the brakes back on, bleed them through and then pop the wheels on
I decided the strip and repaint the radius arms even though they were in pretty good nick already...

For the first time in a couple of years she's got all 4 hubs attached..! I'll concentrate on the scabby front end when I've got it running again...

O/S suspension all refitted and torqued up...

N/S suspension partially refitted, should get this finished tomorrow...

She's beginning to look like a car again!

Managed to get all four wheels on the ground yesterday but rain has stopped play today so haven't had a chance to try and turn the engine over
Brakes refitted and bled:

No more axle stands!

Re: JohnnyB's 'lude
Ok so I don't want to get too excited, but I put the battery back in earlier and SHE LIVES!!!
I cranked her over for a few seconds at a time for several minutes with the dizzy disconnected, reconnected it and she fired up with the first turn of the key in less than 2 seconds... God I love Honda engineering
She runs fine cold but starts to hunt as soon as she gets warm, I'll try and get a vid of it soon. Can't be anything too serious and I've not even got the vacuum lines and inlet back together yet so overall I'm dead chuffed

Now time to rebuild the rear end as the rear brakes are locked solid... Funny how a few hundred horsepower will drag a locked up rear end around though, I couldn't resist hahaha
